Meet Our Nursing Staff
Our on-staff, ICU-trained nurses serve as a vital link between our doctors and patients by providing expert pre-and post-operative care. Their in-depth knowledge and calm, reassuring manner—gained through years of emergency room and cardiac rehabilitation experience—helps patients and their families cope successfully with what can be a stressful situation.
Lena’s nursing background in the emergency department and medical surgical nursing is ideal training for her role in our pre-and post-cardiac catheterization unit. Our patients feel reassured by Lena’s valuable knowledge and insight into the process.
Prior to the surgery, Lena explains what will happen and what to expect in a way that patients can easily understand. Her calm and compassionate manner is a comfort to patients who are about to undergo what may be their first invasive procedure. Post-surgery, Lena speaks to patients to address any issues or concerns they might have.
Lena became a registered nurse in 2005 and joined the practice in 2011.
Sue has been a registered nurse since 1975, and has a varied nursing background that includes work in the emergency department, ICU setting, and cardiac rehabilitation. This diverse experience gives Sue vast knowledge of the everyday issues our patients face and allows her to give advice on a wide range of topics to help patients understand and cope with their diagnosis and required lifestyle changes.
In her routine workday Sue conducts stress testing, handles nursing visits, and responds to phone inquiries from patients about their medication, treatment, or other issues. She has been known to go out of her way to arrange needed services for patients, such as home care services or a heart monitor. She joined ColumbiaDoctors of the Hudson Valley in 2007.
Regina became a registered nurse in 1989 and spent most of her early career working in an ICU setting before changing to office-based care. She is well-versed in all areas of delivering the outpatient services that our patients require and uses her keen assessment skills to ensure we meet each patient’s needs in the best possible way.
Regina applies her vast ICU background when screening patients who call with changes in their overall health, and brings any concerns to the attention of our physicians. Her focused questioning often reveals issues before they become a crisis. In addition, Regina performs testing and conducts nursing visits to patients. She has been with the practice since 2007.
Teresa has been a registered nurse since 2001, and spent the first 10 years of her career in the emergency department, first as a staff nurse and more recently in a managerial role. Her responsibilities include educating patients, nursing visits, conducting stress tests, and managing adjustments of the anticoagulant drug Coumadin.
Patients appreciate Teresa’s follow-up phone calls to ask about their medical conditions and medications, including side effects. Her extensive emergency room background helps her, and her patients, to remain calm and to deal with urgent issues in a timely manner.
For the past four years, Teresa has been an instructor with the American Heart Association, teaching cardiac care classes to health care providers. She joined the practice in 2008.
Bonnie has been a registered nurse since 1985 and brings a varied background to her role with us. Her nursing experience in the ICU setting, same-day surgery, and post-anesthesia care units allows Bonnie to develop an excellent rapport with patients, and she always finds a way to put them at ease.
Bonnie has the ability to explain nuclear stress tests and other procedures so that patients know fully what to expect. Her calm demeanor helps patients feel relaxed and confident throughout the process.
Bonnie joined the staff at ColumbiaDoctors of the Hudson Valley in 2008.
